When comparing my drawings to that of the one in the book, I suppose my illustrations are more similar to the children's in the sense that our drawings are very colourful. Whereas the illustrations in the children's book are of dull shades and most likely purposely done this way.

I agree with Cathy's comments about the illustrations being bipeds rather than animal forms depicted in the story. Maybe it's because my children are more afraid of people than animals.

The illustrations by Sendak show a variety of types of wild things, but they are all bipeds - and so are the illustrations by Harriet and Cathy, their illustrations are also very colourful. Sendak's tend to be in shades of blue and grey. All appear to have big teeth - expectations of being eaten by them?
